Whilst the 2010 AGM season was less contentious than the previous year, there were still instances where shareholders raised objections on the resolution to approve the Remuneration Report or another AGM resolution. The UK Corporate Governance Code was also updated and the FRC launched the new UK Stewardship Code. We discuss some of the implications of these new codes for the 2011 AGM season.

The 2009 AGM season was the most contentious in recent times, with shareholders more willing than before to lodge votes against, or withhold support from, AGM resolutions in general and the Remuneration Report in particular.
