THE NEW YORK TEAM
Gemma Bakx has been part of the US account management team since 2000. Prior to joining Makinson Cowell, Gemma worked in corporate finance servicing global companies for a Benelux bank. She also worked for an international law firm in Rotterdam for five years, representing corporations on takeovers, bankruptcies, restructurings and litigation. Gemma is multilingual (Dutch, English, French and German) and holds law degrees from the Universities of London and Leyden, the Netherlands.
Alicia Cahill is part of the international account management and research teams. Prior to joining the firm in 2007, she performed investment manager research for a pensions consulting firm. Alicia holds a BA degree in art history from New York University.
Bob Crooke heads financial media relations for the US team. Bob was chief American media spokesman at Reuters for 13 years. A former journalist, he has written and lectured extensively on the media business and corporate communication at the Universities of New York, South Carolina and Nebraska. Bob holds an MA degree in English literature from Fordham University.
Eileen Halsch heads the research function and international account management for the US team, which she has been a part of since 1997. She has more than 15 years experience in advising non-US clients on investor relations strategy, implementation and marketing communications. A Fulbright Scholar, Eileen has an MBA degree in marketing from Manhattan College.
Bill Jenks leads the US team and was a founder of the investor relations business that joined Makinson Cowell on the formation of its New York office in 2001. Prior to that Bill had worked closely with Makinson Cowell assisting with US investor relations activities. He has over 20 years' experience of advising US, European, Latin America and Asian corporations. Bill's corporate experience includes international mergers, acquisitions and strategic planning. He has an MBA Finance degree from New York University.
Joe Kist heads equity marketing and road shows for the US team, which he joined in 1998. Joe has over 10 years' experience positioning companies with institutional investors. He developed the firm's US investor database which he is currently adapting for European use. He holds a BA degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts.
Curran McCann is part of the US account management and research teams. He previously worked as part of the London research team and has worked in the insurance and investment industries. Curran holds a CFA charter from the Association for Investment Management and Research, an MBA in finance from Hofstra University, New York and a degree in economics from Bucknell University.
Ed McDonnell is part of the equity marketing and roadshows team in the US, which he joined in 2005 after two years servicing clients the Makinson Cowell London office. Starting with Makinson Cowell (US) in 2001, Ed has over 8 years' experience positioning companies with institutional investors. He holds a BA degree in English from the University of Notre Dame.
Dan Peoples has been providing US research and investor relations services for Makinson Cowell since 1991. A crisis communications specialist, he has 25 years' experience in corporate communications as both a corporate executive and consultant. Located in Southern California, he positions Makinson Cowell clients with the US West Coast investment community and financial media. Dan holds a BA from Wittenberg University and an MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
