LONDON ASSOCIATES
Ariel Bauer, senior associate, joined Makinson Cowell in 2007 following a 15 year career as a senior Equity Analyst. He was a director at Merrill Lynch, Commerzbank and ABN AMRO where he covered multiple sectors, including Technology, Capital Goods and Electricals. Ariel started his career as a strategy consultant with Accenture in Paris. He graduated from HEC, France's leading business school, and is trilingual (English, French and German).
Nick de Bunsen, senior associate, joined Makinson Cowell at the start of 2006, having worked as a consultant following an MSc programme at the London School of Economics. Previously, he spent five years in the Equity Capital Markets group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in London and New York. He has a degree in Spanish and Philosophy from the University of Manchester.
Jo Doran, senior associate, joined Makinson Cowell from Allied Domecq PLC where she was Investor Relations Manager for eleven years. A member of the Institute of Investment Management & Research, Jo has a languages degree from Nottingham University.
John Forbes, senior associate, joined Makinson Cowell from Deloitte & Touche, where he specialised in the investigation of fraud and white-collar crime. A chartered accountant, he has a degree in engineering from Cambridge University.
Jeremy Loynes, senior associate, joined Makinson Cowell in 2000 from HSBC Rail (UK). He spent some 11 years in industry as a financial analyst and planner including work on rail privatisation. He has an MBA from Cranfield, an MSc degree in finance from London Business School and a degree in engineering from Cambridge University.
James Reid, senior associate, joined Makinson Cowell in July 2002 after graduating from Cranfield with an MBA. Previously he worked for ICI following an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. In addition James has worked for an accountancy practice specialising in business modelling. He holds a CFA charter.
Hilary Speller, senior associate, joined Makinson Cowell after a postgraduate year at the London School of Economics studying accounting and finance. Prior to that she was a North American portfolio manager with Gartmore. She began her investment career with the BG Pension Fund following her degree, also from LSE.
Matthew Denham, associate, joined Makinson Cowell in 2004 and is a member of one of our UK client teams. He has a degree in psychology from the University of Edinburgh and is a CFA charterholder.
John Goddard, associate, is a member of the research team at Makinson Cowell. He joined the company in 1998 and is training as an accountant with CIMA.
Michelle Holliday, associate, is a member of the research team and joined Makinson Cowell in 1993. She is CIMA qualified, a member of the Securities Institute and has passed level II of the CFA examination.
Michael Nicholson, associate, is a member of one of our UK client teams. He joined Makinson Cowell in December 2004. He has a degree in economics from the University of Durham, the Certificate in Corporate Finance from the Securities and Investment Institute and is a member of the CFA Society of the UK. He is studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Hugh Taylor, associate, joined Makinson Cowell in 2005 and is a member of one of our UK client teams. He has a degree in ancient history from University College London and is a member of the Securities and Investment Institute and the CFA Society of the UK. He is studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Thomas Weerheim, associate, joined the International Team at Makinson Cowell in 2006. He studied International Management at the Rotterdam Business School of Economics. Thomas has been working in the financial sector since 2000 and is fluent in Dutch, French and German.
